JLMSim: Home Page
The JLM Simulator is available as a licensed download to registered
users at no charge. When you click on the REGISTER link below you will be
presented with a registration window. To gain access to the software, you must
agree to the license terms and register with a valid email address. Once your
request is approved, you will be sent a confirmation email with a link back to
this page.
Before downloading and installing the latest version of the JLM Simulator,
please check the the Release Notes page for
information about the latest release. You can identify which version is
currently installed by looking at the version number on the JLM Simulator output
file names. If you
have installed a previous version of the JLM Simulator,
please uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel before
installing a later version.
To download the file, click on the DOWNLOAD link at the bottom of this
page. You will be prompted for your user id and password which you created when
you registered. You will then be taken to an FTP location that contains two files.
You can choose between downloading the
.zip file or the self-extracting executable .exe file.
The downloads have identical content and are
about 6.5 Mb in size. To download either file, simply click on the filename and
save it to your desktop.
If you download the self-extracting executable file, save it to your desktop and
double-click on it to begin the installation. The default destination directory
for the unzipped files is set to c:\jlmsim.
If you download the single .zip file, save it to any local
directory and use your own unzip utility to unzip the files.
When the
files are unzipped, you will find a
setup file called SETUP.EXE in the directory of unzipped files. Execute this .exe
file to begin installation.
This installation will
create a Program Group called JLM Simulator with the following links:
- JLMSimDoc.pdf - An Adobe PDF file that contains a full copy of this documentation website, so that it will be available
locally if you are running the simulation on a PC without an
internet connection.
- Input GUI - A Graphical User Interface for entering data and
maintaining information in the JLMSim Input File.
- MarketSimulation - The compiled program that runs the
simulation. The program will not run until a JLMSim Input File has been
generated using the Input GUI.
- Output GUI - A Graphical User Interface for viewing general simulation
results, creating price and volume
charts and exporting the Daily Reports File in an Excel format.
The setup program will create the following directories:
C:\Program Files\JLMSimulator - Contains programs and PDF documentation.
All output files will be created in this directory.
C:\Program Files\JLMSimulator\Example - Contains sample input and output files as described in Overview.
Execution time to run the JLM Simulator will vary depending on your input. Using the
sample input file, run time was approximately 25 minutes on a Dell GX280 with a
3.4 Ghz Pentium 4 processor and 1.0 Gb of RAM.
The
JLM Simulator can be uninstalled from Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.
Please feel free to browse this documentation site before downloading the
software. You may want to print out this page for your reference. If you have any problems with downloading or using the software, you
can send an email to:
